The Annual Summer Camp 2013 started off on 10th April 2013 on the theme “ Fitness for Healthy Living”, under the Chairmanship of Mr.Sunil J King, Member of the Board, YMCA Bangalore.
The Inaugural ceremony was held on 10th April 2013 at City YMCA, Nrupathunga Road, Bangalore. Sri.Brijesh Patel, Veteran Cricketer and Former Secretary K.S.C.A., was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the camp. Mr.Sunil.J. King, Chairman, Annual Summer Camp – 2013, Mr.S.V.Rathna Kumar General Secretary and Mr.Maridyave Gowda, were present and graced the occasion. All the campers attended the programme.
Around 400 children registered as campers in various sports disciplines. Swimming was conducted at Baldwin Girls School. During the camp i.e., on 30th April 2013, a medical check up was organized for all campers and an Interaction Session for parent-children was organized with Dr.Gladson Johnson of ‘Attitude and Prime’ was the Resource person who addressed the children. The parents and children were benefited a lot from this programme. T-shirts and Camp Diaries were distributed to all campers. Quiz competitions were organized and an Inter match with the campers from outside was also organized in the game of cricket and football.
A Valedictory function was organized on 14th May 2013. A Cultural event was organized before the programme in which the campers participated. Mr.Deva Prakash, Assistant Director, Department of Public Instruction, Government of Karnataka was the Chief Guest. Mr.Nagaraj, Wrestler, National and State level Champion, was the Guest of Honour. Dr.J.Alexander, I.A.S. (Retd) President, YMCA Bangalore graced the occasion, Mr.S.V.Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, welcomed the gathering. Mr.Sunil. J. King, Chairman, Annual Summer Camp, reported about the Annual Summer Camp in brief. Certificates were distributed to all the campers.
The Bangalore YMCA Programme Consultation was organized successfully on 27th July 2013 at J.R.C.Hall, UTC, Bangalore. The Consultation started with an opening prayer by Rev.Dr.J.R.John Samuel Raj, Principal, UTC. Mr.S.V.Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, cordially welcomed the congregation of participants representing all the Task Groups, the Staff members, the Members of the training department and well-wishers. Dignitaries present on the day were presented with flower bouquets. This was followed by self introduction of the delegates representing the Task Groups. A total of nearly 120 people took part in the event.
Dr.S. Philip Lewis, Vice President, YMCA Bangalore, delivered a very meaningful and appealing address on the theme “Empowered to Empower” as the Chief Guest at the Inauguration function. Prof. Promodini Narendranath, Member of the Board, YMCA Bangalore, provided the Presidential Remarks. Rev.Dr.Allan Samuel Palanna, Faculty, Department of Ethics, United Theological College, brought the Keynote address providing a deeper insight to all those attended on the theme “Empowered to Empower”. The Consultation was also marked by an inspiring Power point presentation depicting the events organized by various Task Groups addressing the needs of the community which impacted the minds of those who witnessed. Prof. Promodini Narendranath Member of the Board, YMCA provided an interesting Presidential Remarks highlighting the importance of empowerment in the work of the organization. Mr.D.Arun Kumar Karodi, Assistant General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, proposed the Vote of Thanks, marking the completion of the inauguration function.
As part of Session-II, the delegates divided themselves into Task Groups engaging themselves in group discussions that followed. Delicious lunch was provided for all the delegates present.
At the post lunch session, plenary reporting by each Task Groups was observed under the Chairmanship of Prof.Promodini Narendranath wherein all the Task Groups representatives came up and presented key aspects of their respective group discussions. After the group presentations the Chairperson made closing remarks summing up the entire consultation effectively. Mr.Daniel Rathnakar J, Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, proposed the Vote of Thanks. Rev.Dr.Allan Samuel Palanna, led the consultation with a Closing Prayer and Benediction.
The unique factor of the entire consultation as observed were collective efforts of Voluntary leaders representing all the Task Groups joining hands together in dealing with the emerging realities in the society with a clear mission perspectives and focus. The YMCA Training Department represented by the Secretary trainees along with Director Mr.George Verghese and the involvement of UTC the community providing their support for YMCA programme rendered the entire consultation a successful and meaningful event.

Theme – “BE THE CHANGE”
The YMCA/YWCA Week of Prayer took off at an Inaugural Worship held at City YMCA, Nrupathunga Road, Bangalore on Sunday the 10th November 2013 at 8.30 am. The worship started off with an opening prayer by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Dr.Francis Ravi David, Member of the Board, YMCA Bangalore. The students of St. Martha’s Nursing College rendered an inspirational invocation song. Dr. M. Anthony Isaac, Associate Gen. Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, formally welcomed the gathering. The President of YWCA Mrs. Susan Geetha Thomas read out the World YMCA/YWCA President’s message on the theme “Be the Change”. The speaker of the day was Sis. Dr. Rani Joseph Mary Shruti, SND, Associate Professor Dept., of Mission & Ecumenics, UTC Bangalore who provided the message on the theme “We are called to be people of faith and freedom” which was informative and creative. Mrs. Pearl Sudeep, Gen. Secretary, YWCA Bangalore, read out the scripture lessons for the day from the book :Galatians: 5:1, 13-25 “Faith and Freedom”. During the worship, Bro. Prashanth from Campus Crusade, members of St. Martha’s Nursing College, members of Methodist Church, Wilson Garden, singing group, rendered special songs on the occasion. Dr.Francis Ravi David brought the closing prayer and benediction. Mr. R. Prasanna Kumar coordinated the worship programme. Later, the participants were served with fellowship breakfast after the worship.

Theme: What God wants in me?
On the Tuesday 12thNovember 2013 the YWCA/YMCA week of Prayer was celebrated at the YMCA CIC Dream Home. Around 70 children were gathered from different areas like Murphy Town, K. G. Halli & Sevanagar Areas.
The programme started at 10-30am with an invocation song by Leo Prakash and welcome & Introduction by Mr. Maria Louis, CIC and followed by Mr. Daniel Rathnakar’s talk on the theme. Mr. Arun Kumar Karodi, Asst. Gen. Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, Dr. Maleques. A, Secretary, YMCA Principal, YMCA College of Physical Education graced the occasion. Pastor Rev. Raas Paul, I.U.M.E. Church, delivered the message and related moral stories to the children on the theme. The Programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Selvaraj, CIC. The programme concluded with a fellowship lunch.
Wednesday – 13th November 2013
The Week of Prayer was observed successfully with a programme at Family YMCA on Wednesday, the 13th November 2013, the theme being “Ubuntu, I am because you are, seeing God’s intervention or calling through my neighbors”.
The meeting started with an opening prayer by Mr. George Varghese, Director YMCA Training Department, UTC Bangalore. Dr. M. Anthony Isaac, Associate General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, welcomed the gathering consisting of members and neighbors of Family YMCA, and also Trainees of YMCA training Dept, UTC, and friends. The worship started off with an opening hymn. Scripture Reading Matthew 22:34-40 was done by Mr. R. Prasanna Kumar, Asst. Gen. Secretary, YMCA Bangalore and Coordinator, Week of Prayer 2013. Mr. Nelson provided a meaningful song. Dr.Francis Ravi David, Member of the Board, and Chairman-Week of Prayer 2013 brought the message on the occasion on the theme ‘Ubuntu’ which meant “shared humanity” as created by God Almighty. The speaker comprehensively dealt with and explained the theme ‘Ubuntu’ and the responsibility of the neighbors. He also stressed on the need to love one another, living in harmony with one another, practice like-mindedness with one another, care for one another, accept one another, serve one another, forgive one another, bear burdens with one another, be patient, be kind and compassionate with one another, pray for one another, encourage one another, comfort one another despite diversities and differences which may be psychological, sociological and political. A special song followed and the worship came to a close with a hymn– “All to Jesus, I surrender “… and closing prayer and benediction by Rev. Jacob Ravinder, Pastor, Wesley English Church. The invitees took part in a fellowship dinner after the programme. Dr. M. Anthony Isaac coordinated the programme.
Thursday - 14th November 2013
On Thursday the 14th November 2013, the YWCA and the YMCA jointly observed/went through the visitation of Prison at Parappana Agrahara, Bangalore, wherein both the representatives of YMCA & YWCA actively participated in the meeting with the inmates of the prison and interacted with them. The theme of the day was “I am the Change: Responding to Gods call to be transformed”.
In the evening a Children’s day programme was organized at YWCA Koramangala, Bangalore successfully.

Theme: Reflection: Addressing Gender Inequalities in our Communities: A Call to Action
The YMCA Kumbalgodu branch organized a sports meet for the rural children on 14th November 2013 on the occasion of Children’s day. Around 250 Children from YMCA Public School and St. Benedict school participated in the programme.
Prof. Pramodini Narendranath, Chairperson YMCA Education and Skill Development committee, Father Bruno, Director St. Benedicts School, Ashirvanam Center and Mr. Andrews, Principal, St.Benedicts School were present as the guests of honor.

Christian Youth Gathering
The Christian Youth Fellowship Gathering was successfully organized on the theme “Be the Change” on Saturday, the 16th November 2013 at City YMCA, Nrupathunga Road, Bangalore. Dr.Sony Baboo, Pastor of Philadelphia Fellowship Centre, Horamavu, Agara, provided a very interesting and informative address to the youth gathering. Dr. Baboo centered his inputs on the aspects of aiming at perfection, maintaining standards and practicing a determined conviction as children of God as per the will of the Almighty. The Gathering was divided into 7 groups who spent time in discussing and bringing in the thoughts on issues of our society namely Religion, Family, Government, Education, Economy/Business, Arts & Entertainment. The event on Saturday involved the participation of Members of YWCA represented by the Gen. Secretary Mrs. Pearl Sudeep, Members of Campus Crusade of India, YMCA College of Physical Education students, volunteers and friends.
The Meeting started with a prayer by Mr.Vijay Chelliah, followed by an inspirational song by Bro.Prashanth Prasad of Campus Crusade. The gathering was formally welcomed by the Gen. Secretary, YWCA. The Coordinator provided a brief & about the programme. Mr.Santosh Jagdhane formally introduced the speaker Dr.Sony Baboo. A message followed which was very informative and also evinced participation by the gathering of different groups addressing seven different subjects in their own respective group activities. After the presentation, the meeting came to a close with a closing prayer by Mr.Vijay. The event concluded with a fellowship lunch to all participants. Around 50 members participated in the event. This programme was coordinated by Mr.R.Prasanna Kumar, Assistant General Secretary, YMCA Bourdillon Branch.
Family YMCA Branch activities.
The Family YMCA continue to cater to the needs of the community around the Benson Town area with regular coaching camp for the children in Shuttle Badminton and Gym.
The regular Club activities of Family YMCA attracts 180 members everyday, who utilize the facilities of Shuttle Badminton and Gym Club.
Skill Camp was organized from 10th April to 10th May 2013 in Shuttle Badminton, Music and Western Dance. 75 Boys and Girls participated in the programme. Participation certificate was awarded to all the participants on 12th May 2013.
YM/YWCA organized prayer fellowship during the IInd Week of November from 10th to 16th Nov 2013. The Family YMCA branch organized a family prayer fellowship on the Sub theme “Ubuntu, I am because you are seeing God’s intervention or calling through my neighbours” on 13th Nov 2013 at 7.00 p.m.
Dr. M. Antony Isaac, Associate General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore welcomed the gathering. Dr. Francis Ravi David, Chairman, YM/YWCA Week of Prayer-2013 gave the message on the theme. The devotional song was sung by Mr. Nelson and team. Mr. R. Prasanna Kumar, Asst. Gen Secretary, Bangalore YMCA and co-ordinator of the YM/YWCA week of prayer-2013 read the Bible. The worship service came to an end by Prayer offered by Rev. Jacob Ravinder, Pastor, Wesley English Church. 100 people participated in the prayer fellowship which was followed by a Fellowship dinner.
The Annual General Body Meeting was held on 6th December 2013 at City YMCA. Dr. J. Alexander, President, presided over the meeting and welcomed the members. Mr. S.V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, presented the Annual Report for the year 2012-2013 and Dr. P. Sethu, Treasurer, presented the Audited Statement of Accounts for the year 2012-2013. Dr. S. Philip Lewis, Vice President proposed vote of thanks and Rev. John Wesley Ambler pronounced the benediction.
Nine boys and Girls participated in the Shuttle academy during the year 2013-14. Thirty members regularly participate in the Club Activities.

The Christmas programme was successfully organized at City YMCA on 6th December 2013.The programme started with carol singing rendered by youth of Wilson Garden Methodist Church, Dr.P.Sethu, Treasurer, YMCA Bangalore offered the opening prayer. Christmas Carol singing was also presented by students of St.Martha’s Nursing College, Dr.J.Alexander I.A.S.[Retd]., President, YMCA Bangalore formally welcomed the gathering. Dr.M.Anthony Isaac, Associate Gen.Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, introduced the Chief Guest Mr.S.Prabhu, I.A.A.S., [Retd]., Formerly Principal Accountant General, A & E, Government of Karnataka. The Chief Guest was formally honoured by YMCA Bangalore at the occasion for his commendable services in the responsible capacity of Principal Accountant General. In his address, the speaker laid importance of realizing the birth of Jesus Christ into the thoughts and minds of people calling upon them translate faith into action in their day to day lives. Mr.S.V.Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore was honoured by Mr.Praveen Ranka, Chairman, Martial Arts Trust, Bangalore. The St.Marthas Hospital students and youth of Wilson Garden Methodist Church once again rendered inspirational Carol singing. Mr.D.Arun Kumar Karodi, Assistant General Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks, Rev. S.William Jones, Presbyter-in-charge, Hudson Memorial Church, offered the closing prayer and benediction.
After, all the members joined a fellowship dinner. The programme was anchored by Mr.R.Prasanna Kumar, Assistant General Secretary and Mr.John Kennedy, Senior Secretary YMCA.
