Corporate Social Responsibility
The YMCA Centre for Education and Skill Development has established a Corporate partnership with Goldman Sachs Company during this year. As part of this programme every year the company will sponsor two or three small community projects. The company staff numbering 25-30 will participate as volunteers in each project as part of their community team work. Three such projects mentioned below were carried out during this year at the YMCA centre in Kumbalgodu.
Environmental Awareness and Conservation Programme
Around 20 employees from Goldman Sachs Company took part in an environmental awareness and conservation programme at the Kumbalgodu centre on 5th June 2013. They cleaned up the medicinal plants conservation park and planted new saplings in the plots as part of their community outreach work. The company sponsored the entire project cost like purchase of garden tools, plants and also the lunch for all participants and the staff of YMCA.
Health camp for the school Children
A general health checkup camp was organized for school children and their parents on 21st June 2013 at the YMCA campus in Kumbalgodu. This project was also sponsored by the Goldman sachs as part of their CSR-volunteer programme. Around 25 volunteers from the company along with our staff organized the camp. Dr.Beaulah and Dr.Agilan from St.Martha’s hospital and Dr.Tajunisa from a private clinic screened the children and prescribed medicines, tonics and vitamin tablets. The parents also received medical aid and referral services.
Picnic to Banneghatta National Park
As the third project during the year the Goldman sachs company sponsored a picnic for the YMCA school children on July 24th 2013 to Bannerghatta biological park. Children enjoyed the day along with the volunteers from the Goldman Sachs Company.
The YMCA Centre for Education and skill development celebrated Christmas on 21st December2013 at its centre in Kumbalgodu. Mr.Sunil. J. King, Member of the YMCA Board and Mrs. Roopa Sunil were present on the occasion as guests. Children enacted a beautiful Christmas play and enthralled the gathering with carols. A beautiful ‘Christmas Crib’ was also set up in the school premises and a special cake was cut and distributed to all the children, Parents and the invitees.
Camping & Retreat
Church of salvation, an independent congregation conducted their camp from 11-13th April at YMCA centre. Divya Shanthi Church VBS children had their picnic at YMCA centre on 29th April 2013.
