The YMCA Bangalore gives utmost importance under right to recreation that around 30 from Dream Home and Murphy Town Shelter Children actually the newly contacted children were taken to Water World on 15th May 2014. The children enjoyed the trip. personal counseling and motivation were conducted from our committed staff, hand in hand to take up studies and vocational training of their choice for their better future.
Around 40 children are placed at Dream Home Day Care Centre, under NCLP[Government of Karnakata] Project and the children have been provided mid day meals regularly. Learning materials are supplied and follow up programmes for school drop outs are designed by imparting Bridge course who will be admitted for schools in the next academic year. Mid day meals are provided to around 20 children on a regular basis who are attending day care centre at our Kiosk contact point running at Byappanahalli. A Proposal has already been sent to the Department for an additional two day care centers under NCLP Project at Sevanagar and Murphy Town Day Care Centres.
The Annual Programme Consultation was organized by Bangalore YMCA on 27th July 2013 at United Theological College, Bangalore. At the annual consultation programme, SADWI Task Group consisted of more than 34 delegates from various backgrounds and professions. Students from Bangalore City College, M.E.S College, Kristu Jayanthi College, Brindhavan College, German institutions participated enthusiastically in the Task group events. The group discussed the problems and solutions of the Street Children and Women and the previous programmes at length. The group discussed under the supervision of Mrs.Grace Lobo, the group head. Mr.Sharma also a member of the group gave the main perspective of SADWI and motivated everyone in the group to voice their views in the group. Plans for the next successive year and suggestions to improve the Task Group were the main topic of the discussion.
There was an Inspection of Open Shelter at Dream Home on 14th September 2013 conducted by the District Child Protection officer. He expressed his happiness over cleanliness at the centre & maintenance of records and registers.
As per Department of Women & Child Development we are conducting a survey of Street children, Run Away children, Child labourers at Railway stations and Streets. This survey is to get an average number of the children on street.
GMR Institute a social service organisation at Neelasandra conducted a four month advanced Tailoring and Electrician course for our Dream Home children.
The extension of the hall & construction of toilet work at Balwadi centre has completed and now it is very convenient and spacious for the children to play. As a regular feature, crèche and regular tuition classes are going on as a part of the programme.
The ladies from the slum displayed their arts & craft work at the exhibition which was organized by YWCA on 9th November 2013 and the sale of Crafts were good. The ladies got a Greeting cards order through the volunteers from Germany and they sold around 300 Greeting cards and the ladies were benefited.
The fourth batch of beautician course began in the mid June 2013 and around eight students enrolled and the previous batch students are all placed in Beauty parlors and are earning decent salaries. This year we have started Tailoring class at this centre and five ladies have enrolled for the course.
