World Environment Day 2015

 

The YMCA Bangalore observed World Environment Day on the Theme: "You can become an Environment hero by planting protecting & Nurturing" on Friday, the 5th June 2015 at 9.30 a.m. at Baldwin Girls School, Richmond Road, Bengaluru. Nearly 600 school children were involved in tree planting in the premises followed by a meaningful invocation song & Eco song by the School Children and Shri. Akshay Heblikar, Director, Eco-Watch, Bengaluru was the Chief Guest and planted the sapling at the school premises and addressed the gathering. Smt. Indira Williams, Principal, Baldwin Girls School, Bangalore welcomed the gathering. Rtn. B.K. Prasad, President, Rotary Bangalore Peenya released the Eco-badges and highlighted the importance of plant for human survival. Mr. Arun Bethel, Chief Personal Manager, Recruitment & HRD Dept. KSRTC, Bengaluru, presided over the function and distributed the saplings. Lion. Bernard Chetty, Vice-President, Sonata Software, was the Guest of Honour. Greetings by Dr. M. Antony Isaac, Associate General Secretary, YMCA, Prof. Pramodini Narendranath, Chairperson of the Task Group on Ecology and Environment, YMCA & Member of the Board of Directors, YMCA Bangalore presided over the programme and proposed vote of thanks.

World Environment Day

The World Environment Day was observed on Wednesday, 5th June 2013 at St. Theresa’s Girls High School, Royan Circle, Chamarajpet, Bangalore. Nearly 1,500 children were involved in tree planting in the premises followed by a meaningful invocation song and presenting relevant Eco-Skit by 10th Std and D.Ed. Students. Mr. V. Sukumar, Programme Executor, Zee Kannada TV, planted the sapling at the school premises along with the children and addressed the gathering followed by Mrs. Arundhati Das, Ph.D. Scholar, from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore released the Eco-badges and highlighted the importance of plant for human survival. Mr. Vinayak Joshi, Budding Kannada Film Actor, also delivered a meaningful and apt environment message to the children.

29th Inter Collegiate YMCA Model Lok Sabha

29th Inter Collegiate YMCA Model Lok Sabha was conducted on Monday, 28th October 2013 at 9.30 a.m. at City YMCA, Nrupathunga Road, Bangalore. The inaugural programme was started with a word of prayer by Prof. Pramodini Narendranath, Chairperson of the Task Group & Member of the Board, YMCA and invocation by Mr. Pampapathi, College Student. Mr. S.V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA welcomed the gathering. Mr. N. Harish, Advocate and Trainer gave a brief note about the YMCA Inter Collegiate Model Lok Sabha Training sessions. Rtn. K.S. Nagendra, Dist. Governor, RI DIST.3190 presided over the function. Dr. M. Antony Isaac, Associate General Secretary, YMCA introduced the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Dr. .J. Alexander I.A.S. (Retd) and Former Cabinet Minister, Government of Karnataka & President YMCA was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme by Lighting the lamp and addressed the young budding parliamentarians of our country.

At this auspicious occasion our beloved General Secretary Shri. S.V. Rathna Kumar was honoured by Dr. J. Alexander, President YMCA and Rtn. K.S. Nagendra, Dist. Governor, RI DIST.3190 for his 35 years of relentless, committed & meritorious service rendered to YMCA Bangalore.



 

Rtn. Arvind Salampuria, President, Rotary Bangalore Peenya brought greetings. Prof. T.S. Rajamani, Member of the Task Group and Chairman of the YMCA career counseling department proposed Vote of thanks.

The valedictory function was held at 5.30 p.m. at City YMCA, at this function Hon’ble. Shri. U.T.Khader Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Karnataka was the Chief Guest and brought the Valedictory address to the young parliamentarians. Mr. S.V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA, Prof. Pramodini Narendranath, Shri. Thiyagarajan, Assistant General Manager,Corporation Bank, Nrupathunga Road & Mr. Dundiraj, Assistant General Manager, Corporation Bank, N.T. Road, Rtn. Jeetendra Aneja, Dist. Director - Youth Service, Rtn. K. Suresh, Ln. K.Ramesh Rao, TMJS 1st Vice District Governor, DIST.317F graced the occasion. More than 150 students from 12 colleges participated at this Model Lok Sabha programme, all the participants were awarded with participation certificates. Mr. D. Arun Ravindra Kumar Karodi, Assistant General Secretary, YMCA was the co-ordinator of the 29th Model Lok Sabha Programme 2013 and proposed vote of thanks.

29th Sir. C.V. Raman Inter Collegiate English Debate 2014 & Prof. T. Reuben Memorial Inter Collegiate Kannada Debate

The 29th Sir. C.V. Raman Inter Collegiate English Debate 2014 & Prof. T. Reuben Memorial Inter Collegiate Kannada Debate was conducted on Saturday, 15th February 2014 between 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. at City YMCA, Nrupathunga Road, Bangalore on the Topic: “The Face Book” through internet, Is it spoiling the morale of the present day youth?

About 52 students from 25 reputed colleges both boys and girls were participated in the most prestigious English and Kannada Debate competitions. Shri. Chandrasekhar Gurubasappa Hungund, Member, Karnataka Human Rights Commission inaugurated the debate competition, in his address he highlighted the importance of the face book specially for the younger generation to use properly in communicating the appropriate messages for acquiring the right information for their personal career growth. Ln. Bernaard.R.Chetty, President, Lions Club Sikshana Bangalore presided over the function & emphasized on linking communications which develops an healthy growth among the students. Shri. S.V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore, in his address spoke about the above two eminent personalities and their values, contribution and the commitment towards the society. Prof. Pramodini Narendranath, Member of the Board, YMCA and Chairperson of YMCA Task Group on Ecology & Environment/ Youth Issues committee graced the occasion.

 

 

 

 

 

Evening at 4.30 p.m. Shr. Rajendra Kulkarni, Secretary, Manav Charities, Bangalore was the Chief Guest and briefed about the latest computer technology development and usages and also how to utilize the new avenues in a positive manner which is very vital right now. Ln. K. Ramesh Rao, TMJS, 1st Vice District Governor, DIST .317F presided over the function and congratulated all the participants for active participation and spoke well on the above two topics “FOR” & “AGAINST”.

World Water Day - “Free & Fair right to Vote Election Campaign 2014”

The YMCA Ecology and Environment & Youth Issues wing ( Save Bangalore Movement) observed the World Water Day programme on Saturday, the 22nd March 2014 at 10.00 a.m. Near Queen’s Statue, Opp. Mahatma Gandhi Statue, M.G. Road, Bangalore. Smt. Rani Satish, Former Minister, Govt of Karnataka started the programme by flag off the Water Awareness Vehicle & unveiled the Portray of Water Conservation, Dr. Thomas. P. John, Chairman, T. John Group of Institutions, Bangalore released the “Save Water Badges” depicting on the Theme: “Water is for All - Save it for Tomorrow” Ln.K. Ramesh Rao, PMJF 1st Vice District Governor, Dist.317F released the “Save Water Leaflet” about how water is important in our daily life and how to use & save water for the future generation. This programme was followed by “Free & Fair right to Vote Election Campaign” that every citizen must vote, Sri. Lakshminarayana, Commissioner, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was the Chief Guest and addressed the media and mentioned that all the community should exercise their right to vote without fear to choose their right leader in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election. Prof. Pramodini Narendranath, Chairperson, Environment and Youth Issues, Member of the Board , YMCA Bangalore & Mr. S.V. Rathna Kumar, General Secretary, YMCA Bangalore graced the occasion, Dr. M. Antony Isaac, Associate General Secretary, YMCA, Mr. R. Prasanna Kumar, Assistant General Secretary, YMCA, Mr. John Kennedy, Senior Secretary, YMCA, Dr. Maleques, Secretary, YMCA & Principal, YMCA College of Physical Education, Mr. Daniel Rathnakar.J. Secretary, YMCA and other task group members witnessed the programme.
